生物软组织的多尺度结构评估具有挑战性但至关重要,有助于深入理解组织/器官的结构-功能关系。本研究以人胎盘为研究对象,整合了先进的样品制备方案、高端成像技术和经过验证的机器学习分割算法,首次获得了大规模多尺度、多域信息,实现了对母体和胎儿胎盘域的详细形态学和功能学分析。研究定量评估了异质性胎盘组织形态学指标中的尺度依赖性误差,估算了提取有意义生物学数据所需的最小组织尺度。所建立的方案有利于高通量研究正常和病理胎盘的结构-功能关系,为病理妊娠的治疗方案优化提供支持。此外,该方法论适用于其他具有类似胎盘结构特征的复杂器官(具有循环血管和非血管液体间隙的交换屏障)的组织结构和生理行为表征。
